Visiting any church for the very first time can make anyone a little nervous. Where do I go? What do I wear? What time do I show up? What's here for my kids? What can I expect? These and many more questions can come to your mind. Well, we want to put you at ease. Your first visit to Pleasant View Baptist Church will be refreshing, friendly, and enjoyable for your whole family. We want you to experience inspiring music, helpful teaching and preaching, friendly people, and a place where you feel welcome and "at home!" Here are a few answers to your questions about what you might expect on your first visit.
Finding the Church
You can't miss our growing campus on Meadow Road just off of Hwy 14 or if coming from the other direction, just up from the Traffic Circle on Boone Road, and Church Street. There are four front entrances, but the lower entrance from the Large Parking Lot is probably the best one. As you pull on campus, we have special parking just for you up front and close to the Church building. There will be Greeters to help you once you enter the building. Our Foyer is a little small so we have set up a nice Welcome Center in the back of the Wing on the left side. Please make your way there for a nice gift and some specific information. Someone there can also answer other questions you may have.
What's the morning schedule?
We have Sunday school Discipleship classes (for all ages) which begin at 9:30 A.M., and then our Worship service begins at 10:30 A.M. If you can't join us on Sunday Morning, you are invited to attend our Sunday Afternoon AWANA (for ages 2-12th Grades) from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., our Sunday Evening Worship service at 5:30 P.M., or our Wednesday Evening Prayer and Bible Study at 7:00 P.M.
Finding Nurseries, Classes, and Services
Our campus has a lot of buildings, which to a guest can seem overwhelming at first. It's not as complicated as it looks, and we would like to help you find the appropriate nursery, classes, and services for every person in your family. Our greeters and ushers are located around campus, as well as in the lobby and hallways of the main auditorium, and will gladly help direct and even escort you to the right place. If you would like to go to the Welcome Center in the main auditorium, someone will assist you there.
What programs do you have for my kids?
Starting with excellent nurseries, we offer something for every age child from birth through college! At every service on Sunday morning there are safe, clean, and highly staffed nurseries for children two years old and under. For children four and five years old there is a fun, friendly, and Bible-centered class (Children's Church). This class is staffed with trained, friendly, and well-qualified teachers and helpers who will make church exciting and memorable for your child. For students first grade through twelfth grade, we offer a program called Pastor Pals which draws them into our Worship service with an age appropriate Worship Bulletin and an opportunity to take notes. Each Pastor Pal is given incentives for being involved and will enjoy bi-monthly activities with our Pastor and his family.
What should I expect as an adult visitor?
Pleasant View offers a wide array of adult Sunday school classes for couples and singles at any stage of life. These classes are smaller group settings where you are invited to meet people, enjoy some coffee and donuts, and hear a Bible lesson directly applicable to your stage in life. The best way to get to know people at Pleasant View Baptist Church is to visit one of these adult Bible classes.
After Sunday School, plan on attending our morning Worship service where you will enjoy the beautiful and inspiring music of the choir, ensembles, and soloists. The music is always followed by a clear, helpful, and challenging Bible message from Senior Pastor Torrey Easler. (This service is a little over one hour in length.) Following the morning worship service, Pastor Torrey would like to personally greet you and thank you for visiting Pleasant View.
How should I dress?
There is not a dress code at Pleasant View Baptist Church for members or guests. Our ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in more traditional “Sunday” dress; however, our main goal is that you would feel welcome and comfortable for your visit here at Pleasant View.
Do I have to participate in the offering?
No. We do not invite you to Pleasant View Baptist Church for your offering. We want our service to be a gift to you. We hope you will find in our church a warm family spirit, truth from God's Word, and a home where you can grow in God's grace. Please do not feel any obligation to participate in the offering as a guest.
If there is something we missed on this list, just give us a call or ask someone when you arrive. Whether you are new to the area and looking for a church home, or if it has been a long time since you have attended church at all, we hope your first visit at Pleasant View Baptist Church will be memorable. We want to serve you and your family, and we are looking forward to meeting you personally. We hope to see you this Sunday!
